Skip Hire Guide
Skip Permits
If you are hiring a skip and plan to have it placed on the highway (this includes the pavement) a permit from your local council is required.
If your skip is placed entirely on private land you probably won't need a permit.

Skip Safety
- The contents of the skip should not stick out from the sides of the skip. This could be dangerous for road users and pedestrians.
- The skip should not be over-filled. Its contents should be stable, covered with netting or dampened to stop the waste materials inside the skip from blowing out.
- The skip should not contain materials that are likely to pose a risk of fire or explosion or materials that might release toxic fumes or might cause a health or environmental hazard.
